Media Release September 11, 2020

Based on a briefing this morning with local Fire authorities, this is the most up to date information available.  Please understand this is a very fluid situation and there are many factors that can cause conditions to change at any moment.  Molalla is still in Level 3, mandatory evacuation status.  The threat is still here.  Right now, the weather is working in our favor, winds have slowed to approximately 5 mph and the humidity levels have risen.  However, these conditions can change quickly.  The potential danger of fire spotting is a real concern.  As the weather continues to cooperate, it allows extra resources to be put towards this fire.  With the enactment of the State of Oregon Conflagration Act, additional fire resources are being deployed around Molalla.  Please be assured that Fire Department personnel are working diligently to get us to a point of de-escalation. However, the threat is still here and very real. The City is very appreciative of the citizens in evacuating the City and in the manner which the evacuation occurred.  Your continued cooperation is a key component to getting through this quickly and safely.   Local Fire, the City and Police are working hard to allow people the opportunity to get back to their homes and businesses.  Please be assured that your Police Department is present in Molalla 24/7 keeping a watchful eye on your homes and businesses.
