Public Notice of Tentative Agreement Between Molalla City Council and Molalla River School Board

**Public Notice**

 

Member of the Molalla City Council and the Molalla River School Board have reached a tentative agreement on the proposed lease terms for the school district property, which the City of Molalla occupies and operates as the Molalla Library and Fox Park. 

Last week, both bodies of elected officials unanimously voted to authorize the City Manager and the Superintendent to complete the negotiations and enter into long-term leases of the school property to the City. 

The terms for the leases, which are subject to legal review, include: 

  • 50-year leases for $1 per year. 
  • Four-year minimum term and 24-month notice of termination by either party. 
  • The School District, within 24 months, will engage the City and share details on possible slae, possible library expansion, and or possible lease extensions.  This allows time for the district to work on solutions to forecasted elementary school enrollment and possible school capacity challenges. 

The City Council took action at their public meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2024; and the Molalla River School Board took action at their public board meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
