Work is Beginning to Upgrade Sidewalk Curb Ramps in Molalla

Project details

We are bringing sidewalk curb ramps into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act  (ADA) accessibility standards on OR 211 in Molalla. People with disabilities and everyone who uses sidewalks along the highway will benefit from these upgrades. We will replace existing, non-compliant sidewalk curb ramps at non-signalized intersections along OR 211 (West Main Street and East Main Street) between Ridings Avenue and Mathias Road.

Construction Schedule

Construction just began and will continue intermittently through July 2022. Generally, it takes 1-2 weeks to complete work on an individual corner, with construction on several corners happening concurrently. However, only one corner per intersection will be under construction at a time in order to better maintain access to nearby businesses and services.

The construction schedule is subject to change. Visit the project website at www.R1ADA.org for weekly construction updates and to watch our ADA program in action.

Traffic Impacts

This work will cause intermittent lane, shoulder and sidewalk closures on OR 211 and on intersecting local streets. All roads will remain open. We will provide ADA-accessible pedestrian detours around the work zones and maintain access for customers of adjacent businesses. Some South Clackamas Transportation District (SCTD) stops may be temporarily closed or relocated; this will be communicated at the affected bus stops. On-street parking in some areas will be temporarily removed and some spaces may be permanently removed. We will coordinate with affected property and business owners as needed.

Work is expected to take place during the day, unless a temporary lane closure on OR 211 is required. In this case, work may take place at night to minimize traffic impacts.

For any noise-related concerns associated with any nighttime work, contact the 24/7 noise hotline at 503-276-7810.

Improving accessibility for those walking, rolling and riding in Oregon

The ODOT ADA PROGRAM is working to bring more than 25,000 curb ramps throughout Oregon into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The effort was launched in response to a formal complaint from the Association of Oregon Centers for Independent Living (AOCIL). Together we reached an agreement to improve curb ramps and pedestrian signals along all state highways. We are committed to new standards for accessible routes through work zones, outreach and addressing public concerns. Everyone who uses sidewalks along our highways will benefit from this commitment and the improvements we make to the curb ramps.
