Fine Payment Policy
The term “fines” refers to any court monetary obligation, including presumptive fines, fees, costs, and assessments. If unable to pay the full amount upon conviction, the court allows payments in installments set forth below.
Molalla Municipal Court offers payment plans for fines due.
A $30.00 installment fee and $10.00 City assessment per offense will be added to the balance unless the balance can be paid in full in one week from the conviction date. The minimum monthly payment is $50.00, unless specified otherwise, until the balance is paid in full. To make payment arrangements, you must sign a promissory note with the court clerk and provide current contact information (it is your responsibility to provide updated information).
Molalla Municipal Court does NOT send payment statements or reminders.
Please be advised that it is your responsibility to keep the court informed of any changes in the information provided by you at the time of signing the promissory note. Failing to provide changed information may result in additional assessments and fines. These fines and assessments are detailed in the City's Master Fee Schedule.
If you cannot make your payment, contact the court.
It is the defendant’s responsibility to make the monthly installment payments on the day they sign up for. If you are unable to make your monthly payment before and/or on the due date, it is very important that you contact the court to notify them of this. When missing a monthly payment you must pay the late amount plus your regularly scheduled payment on the next due date.
Delinquent Payment Plans
If a defendant's account falls delinquent for more than 60 days, the court will mail an Order to Show Cause to the defendant ordering them to appear in court to give a reason as to why they have failed to comply with a court order. Failure to appear for this hearing means the defendant's driving privileges will be suspended and/or a warrant being issued for their arrest. Additional fees may be added before and after the account is sent to a private collections agency.
Driver's License Suspension
If an order to suspend driving privileges is ordered by the judge due to failure to appear in court, at least half of the total balance due must be paid to the collection agency before a reinstatement order will be issued to the DMV. It is the defendant's responsibility to contact the DMV to verify their license is valid and to pay any reinstatement fees due.
