About the City Council

The City Council is composed of a Mayor and six Councilors elected from the City at large. The Mayor and Council Members are elected for terms of four-years each and for no more than two consecutive terms. A Council President is elected by the Council at the beginning of each year to perform the duties of Mayor in the absence of that officer.

Molalla’s Form of Government

The City of Molalla operates as a a full-service City under the council-manager form of government. In this system, the City Council appoints and evaluates a professional city manager to serve as the executive leader of the City government. The City Manager's responsibilities include preparing and managing the annual budget; supervising the City’s departments; advising the City Council on policy issues and current developments; implementing Council decisions; and providing guided leadership to City staff in achieving the City Council goals and priorities.
