A recent scamming effort has targeted applicants to city land use decisions, infrastructure projects, and other city business with illegitimate fee collection requests. Be wary of fee requests in excess of what Molalla City Staff has conveyed to you and reach out to our staff directly if you receive any payment requests that look suspicious. The City will NEVER request a wire payment.
PUBLIC NOTICE: On December 10, 2025, City Council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance No. 2025-12: Amending Molalla Municipal Code, Chapter 2.04.010 City Council Meetings. Regular City Council meetings will start at 6:00pm beginning on January 14, 2026.
A Home Occupation Permit is required for any business activity carried out on a residential property.
For example, a car detailing company that you drive to the client's location but your base of operations (bills, taxes, desk, parking your work vehicle) would be at your residence. You may not do your "work" at your residence, but your company is based there.
Review our submission guide to understand the process.
Complete the digital form below.
Note: You must call Community Development to pay the permit fee after submitting.
We review for zoning compliance.
Typical review time is 4 weeks.
Once you receive your approved Home Occupation Permit, you can apply for a Business License.
