A Distracted Driving Avoidance Course (DDAC) may be available to drivers who have received a citation for with the offense of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Mobile Electronic Device, ORS 811.507. The court may suspend a portion of the fine (not the violation) if the driver completes a court-approved class within the allotted timeframe.

  • A DDAC course is only for a person’s first conviction of driving a motor vehicle while using a mobile electronic device.
  • The DDAC course must be completed within 60 days from the court date and proof of completion must be provided to the court.
  • Upon enrollment of the DDAC course, $165.00 of the $265.00 presumptive fine will be suspended leaving $100.00 due to the court no later than 60 days from their court date.
  • Please note that the offense is still reported to the DMV as required by Oregon Law, ORS 811.507. Any future offenses within a 10-year period will result in elevated sanctions.

You may contact the court anytime prior to your court date to see if you are eligible to take the DDAC course. Please wait one week after the date cited before contacting the Court about your eligibility.
